| .... | Introducing – Kadesha
On a cold winter’s night at the Globe we didn’t really expect much from Colin Blunstone’s support, but as always we listened with an open mind and hopefully receptive ears. On that occasion it paid off as we came across a very talented young singer songwriter indeed. When we say young we mean very young – she is only 16! However, she has written a series of really well crafted songs that have strong melodies and a maturity that belies her tender age. Kadesha Drija is from South Wales and has been trying to fit gigging around school commitments. This has often involved late nights and bleary eyed mornings on the school run. Last year she played in front of 8000 people at the Pontypridd festival and met songwriter and producer Len Arran from 90s band Skunk Anansie. They have subsequently gone on to write and record and album together as well as a soundtrack for Irish film ‘Get Real’.
Kadesha is due to release a 3 track EP in the near future consisting of “Lately”, “So into you” and “The only one”. All 3 songs sound radio friendly, particularly “So into you” and are as good as anything by the likes of Amy MacDonald or Katie Melua. She has a number of gigs lined up for the months ahead and we seriously recommend you try and see her now before she gets picked up by a major and disappears to London only to appear again in a few years time as the major artist she looks destined to be.
